I have a broad range of engineering experience, from 3D mine design to algorithm development (for processing plants).  The "About" and "Services" section provide a broad overview of my expertize.  The projects listed here are a snapshot of those accomplished as a private consultant. 

• Blending tool for coal quality information
• A blending tool is being developed for a coal mining company to explore blending possibilities for two of their mines.  The tool is linked to a database containing coal quality information from both mines. 
  

• Development of a simulation model for a continuous miner section
  • A continuous miner super section (four entry longwall development) simulation model was developed for an underground coal mine. The model allowed the user to simulate a single miner or double miner operation. User could vary a broad range of parameters including panel geometry (pillar sizes), equipment numbers etc. Details such as belt move, return move and shift start-up delays were also built in.

• Evaluation of a Multi-Seam Underground Coal Property
  
  • A multi-seam coal property was evaluated for its underground mining potential.  Geological cross-sections were analyzed to determine best mining heights.  Ultimately, mineable clean tons were estimated.
    

• Microsoft Access database for coal quality information
  • An Access application was built for coal quality information so that management at a coal mine could easily examine quality information and conduct basic analysis. Tools were also developed for the data entry operator to prevent and detect errors.  Additional mathematical tools were built in to explore relationships between parameters.
  
  
• Evaluate Insurance Claims
• I have helped an insurance company evaluate claims from a mining company.  Is the claim appropriate? Do the mining plans and other submissions explain what happened? Was the activity reasonable etc
